Crystal "Cry" Tamez

Crystal Tamez is a self-taught artist, who has deep ties with her westside community. She took interest in art at a young age volunteering at Nonprofits who nourished her artistic talents.

Her art uses symbolism and storytelling to talk about issues important to communities and topics she feels passionate about. You can see strong Chicana themes in her images as well as Latin ancestry, native roots and women empowerment.

She is currently the Mural Restoration Manager at San Anto Cultural Arts and has managed many Mural restorations around the San Antonio area. She has invested a lot of time in community development and in helping at-risk youth in the community by teaching them art as an outlet and form of self-expression.
